How to Get a FEMA Student Identification Number (SID) and Access FEMA Training

A FEMA SID is your personal student identification number. FEMA uses it to track your training and course completions. You only need to register once and can use the same SID for future FEMA training.

Step 1: Get Your FEMA SID
-
Visit the FEMA SID website.
-
Select Register for a FEMA SID.
-
Complete the registration form with your personal information and an email address you can access.
-
Submit the form.
-
Check your email for your FEMA SID number. Save it for future use.
Â
Already have a FEMA SID? Use the Retrieve Your FEMA SID page to recover your number rather than creating another account.
Â
Step 2: Sign In to FEMA Training
FEMA’s training website uses Login.gov to access your student account. Your FEMA SID identifies your training record; Login.gov provides your secure sign-in. Your personal information and at least one verified Login.gov email address must match your FEMA SID profile.

-
Visit the FEMA Training Sign-In page.
-
Select the button to sign in or create a Login.gov account.
-
If you already have a Login.gov account, enter your email address and password, then complete the security verification.
-
If you need a new account, select Create an account and follow the prompts to:
-
Enter an email address that matches your FEMA SID profile.
-
Confirm your email address.
-
Create a password.
-
Set up a security verification method, such as an authentication app or text message.
-
-
Follow the remaining prompts to return to FEMA’s training website.
Â
Step 3: Find Your Course
Visit the FEMA Independent Study Course List, search for the course number or title, and open its course page. Follow the instructions to access the training and final exam. Independent Study courses are free, and a FEMA SID is required for the exams.
